Practice & Services

Strategy.
Trial. Appeal.

We take business and civil disputes from the first demand to the final appeal, for plaintiffs and for defendants.

01

Business Litigation

We handle the whole case.

Business disputes need lawyers who can run the case well from the first letter to the final judgment, and who will try it if it has to be tried. That is the core of our practice. We represent companies, lenders, and individuals, as plaintiffs and as defendants, in commercial contract and business-tort disputes; real estate and construction; insurance coverage and bad faith; lending, insolvency, and fraudulent conveyances; and consumer protection and products liability.

The same lawyers stay with the case at every stage. Nothing we learn in discovery gets lost before trial, and nothing that happens at trial surprises the appellate brief.

02

Trials

We try cases.

Nearly forty trials as first chair in Nevada’s state and federal courts, jury and bench, for plaintiffs and for defendants, and dozens more leading the legal work that decides them.

We approach trial with one eye on the verdict and the other on the appeal. That changes how we frame issues, which objections we make, and how we settle instructions and verdict forms. It is the habit of lawyers who have spent two decades reading trial records the way the Nevada Supreme Court reads them.

When another firm brings us onto its trial team, we take the role the client needs and work within the existing strategy.

03

Appeals

We brief and argue high-stakes appeals.

More than fifty published opinions of the Nevada Supreme Court and Court of Appeals across nearly every subject in civil litigation; a fellowship in the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers; Best Lawyers’ “Lawyer of the Year” in Appellate Practice for 2023 and 2025; and a hand in writing the manuals Nevada lawyers use to practice here.

Our appellate work begins before a notice of appeal is filed. We join trial teams to preserve the issues that will matter, shape the record with the standard of review in mind, and lead the briefing after judgment. When a case needs immediate review, we bring interlocutory appeals and petitions for extraordinary writs.

We ground every appeal in the record, the standard of review, and the realities of appellate courts. We do not raise every conceivable argument; we press the ones that can win.

04

Case Consulting

We advise lawyers and clients facing difficult litigation problems.

Some cases need clearer strategy, not new counsel. Lawyers call us to pressure-test a theory, frame the motion the case turns on, evaluate a verdict for appellate issues, or decide whether a matter should be tried, settled, or appealed. We give that judgment without overlawyering the case or disrupting the team already in place.

Nevada Counsel

For firms based outside the state.

Our partners have practiced in Nevada’s courts for more than twenty years and helped write the manuals Nevada lawyers practice from. Firms based elsewhere bring us their Nevada matters as co-counsel or as counsel of record. We take the role the case needs, from signing and filing to trying it, and we do not try to grow it.
