We are two founding partners, an associate, and our executive director. Both partners were equity partners at large firms, and both served as managing partners, before founding Henriod Stern. One spent fifteen years leading a national firm’s Las Vegas office, trying nearly forty cases as first chair and arguing more than twenty appeals. The other spent sixteen years in the appellate group of Nevada’s largest firm, leading the legal work on more than seventy trial teams and serving as counsel in more than fifty published opinions of the Nevada Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Our associate clerked for the Chief Judge of the Nevada Court of Appeals.
That combination is increasingly rare: lawyers who understand both how trials actually work and how appellate courts review them.
We are not a volume practice. Clients hire us to bring and defend business and civil cases, and we run those cases ourselves, from the first letter through trial and appeal. Other lawyers bring us in as well: as appellate counsel before the record closes, as Nevada counsel for firms based elsewhere, or for a second opinion before the motion that decides the case. When we join another firm’s team, we work within it.
We represent plaintiffs and defendants. We have tried cases for lenders and argued appeals for injured families, defended manufacturers and represented the people who sued them. Each side has taught us how the other one thinks.
One partner graduated from Yale Law School, the other from Vanderbilt Law School, and our associate graduated first in her class at UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law. Both partners practiced at large firms before founding Henriod Stern, one starting at an international firm on Wall Street. That background shapes how we evaluate risk, frame arguments, build the record, and present cases to judges and juries.
Our office is at 400 South Fourth Street, across the street from the Regional Justice Center, the Nevada Supreme Court, and the federal courthouses. That is not an accident. Our conference rooms, guest offices, and war room are a crosswalk from the courtroom. Our practice is statewide: when the case is in Reno, Carson City, or a rural district, we go to it.
